We’ve all seen the commercials… vast expanses of beautiful rain forests wiped out by the greedy loggers, homeless animals, irresponsible over consumption of our natural resources. What with the majority of the world living in urban areas, its a huge undertaking bringing to light what our consumption practices and patterns have done, and are continuing to do, to what should be protected land.
Many things can be done to protect further damage, (using responsible materials, etc), but fortunately, there are some really wonderful projects being done to also reverse the damage. Its called reforestation. Reforestation, as the name implies, its restocking of woodlands, forests, and other naturally wild areas, with the trees and plants that have previously been depleted.
One of the things that is so great about this kind of project is how it can be a large undertaking of time and effort, or it can be so simple as to plant a few extra trees in your own back yard. Below are some really awesome resources if you are interested in helping to reverse the effects of over forestation!
