Although this is not really a place for controversial subjects, it needs to be made clear that equal rights for same-sex couples and individuals is, in fact, a matter of human rights. Conservative groups may disagree, and although this is not necessarily a place for controversy, its no secret the range of discrimination that occurs all over the globe. From the rights to marry and adopt children, to simply the ability to go about their everyday lives free of fear from physical attack, there are very few places around around the world without some type of stigma attached to sexual preference or gender identity.
Point being: equal rights for the LGBT community is a matter of human rights, not an isolated issue.
International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission (http://iglhrc.org), is an organization bringing to light how elimination of discrimination is the business of the whole world, not just the problem of those suffering its effects.
